Capturing Holiday Moments on Video

Still pictures are great for reminding you of the wonderful times that you had during your holiday. However, videos are even better at evoking the memories of all the fun experiences you enjoyed. So, here are some pointers on how you can take crystal-clear videos that you would be proud to show to relatives and friends.

Your first order of business should be to thoroughly read the user's manual of your digital camcorder and familiarise yourself with its various features. Spend some time taking videos around the house so you can practice using it and adjusting its different controls according to changing lighting conditions.

Once you get to your destination and you start capturing moving images with your camcorder, make sure that there are no bright lights behind your subjects. Instead, position yourself so that the light would be behind or beside the camera in order for the scene before you to be clearly illuminated. Furthermore, keep in mind that the focus feature needs to be set to a specific distance. If what you are recording is moving away or towards the camera, then the autofocus might not be able to adjust as quickly as you would like. In this case, you would need to manually adjust the focus.

An important accessory that you should consider bringing with you is a tripod. This will allow you to take better, steadier videos since the camcorder would not be moving around too much. You do not need to purchase the most expensive item; just pick one that has the durability that you need.
