Today I’m going to teach you one of them. It comes from the dating coach Swinggcat and is called a “Tension Loop”

A Tension Loop is when you do something to create unresolved tension inside a female, increase it, release it by bringing closure to it, and then spark it all over again. This will keep her feeling the emotion of wanting and reaching and chasing for more of you.

Soap opera writers use Tension Loops to keep women enraptured in their fictitious dramas for months – sometimes years! The structure is always the same. The soap starts off with some form of conflict or drama, sparking unresolved emotional tension. Emotional tension increases up until the point of the climax. The tension, then, is released by bringing some resolution to the conflict or drama. And, finally, the show ends by sparking the tension all over again, compelling women to tune in for next week’s show.

Within the context of dating and flirting, this tension becomes sexualized.

One of Swinggcat’s favorite Tension Loops is called “Push-Pull.”

Push-Pull is whenever you emotionally Push a female away from you and then emotionally Pull her back in.

Each Push sparks emotional tension and each Pull releases it.

Let’s look at an example of Push-Pull.

Say to a girl, “You have the most beautiful smile I’ve seen tonight.”

She will say, “Thanks.”

Then say, “Actually you have the fourth best smile I’ve seen tonight. I’m gonna call you number four.”

She will demand, “I want to be # 1.”

Say to her, “Wow. You’re a fighter. I’m promoting you to number three.”

She may complain, “But I want to be number one.”

Chide, “If you keep complaining I’m demoting you back down to number four.

Seinfeld gets a lot of attention, as it well should, as having been one of the most innovative sitcoms of the nineties. However, The Drew Carey Show really made just as many important innovations in the television show format as Seinfeld, even if people mainly remember it as one of those shows you watch when there was nothing else on. Put it on your list next time you visit your movie download service and see what the show was really all about.

It could have just been another formulaic sitcom. Many comedians, they get a TV deal so the first thing they do is create just another family sitcom. The blue collar dad, the football widow wife, the kids (usually a daughter and a son) and the wacky neighbor. The Drew Carey Show, while still being more or less based on the comedian’s act, also took the sitcom in a new direction.

Like Seinfeld, it used less formulaic plots and created funnier, weirder situations, but unlike Seinfeld, really applied a degree of surrealism and absurdity to the proceedings. The cast was never afraid to break into song and do a musical episode, or just a musical number in a non-musical episode, and the rivalry between Drew and Mimi was really a fun, quirky driving force for the show.

Like Seinfeld, the show never really delved into the same formulaic plots about Superbowl parties and so on, and really went in a whole new direction creating its own, new concepts for great TV stories. It’s about the existential dread, the fear you feel when you’re anywhere between thirty and fifty and wondering why your life didn’t shape up the way you wanted it to. It’s really interesting, and a little deeper than the usual Football Widow jokes you see in most sitcoms.

The show left a lot of room open for exploration on the part of its writers, directors and performers. It wasn’t formulaic, it let them get away with whatever they wanted to try, and the result was a really unique and fresh show.

The show was really refreshing in the way that it did not focus on the same tired issues as every other show out there at the time. It wasn’t the same old “Uh oh it’s football season” jokes, it wasn’t the son borrowing the car without asking, it was something a lot more interesting and less predictable, and this was really the rejuvenation the sitcom format needed, alongside Seinfeld, after decades of the same old stuff day in day out.

It’s something of an acknowledgement that family can mean “You and your friends”, that family can be defined however you choose to define it, and that the mom, dad and kids aren’t the only backbone of family in the United States, and furthermore, that for family to only possibly mean dad, mom and kids is really excluding so many other real families from inclusion in what it means to love the people around you.

And of course, it’s funny. Lewis and Oswald may well be the second and third funniest comic relief characters of the nineties, after Cosmo Kramer, of course. It’s always fun when a show that’s already a comedy features comic relief characters. Fourth place, of course, goes to Zoidberg, of Futurama.

Poker has come to be one of the best games in the world, thus deserving an all-star event to determine the best player. The World Series Of Poker, or World Series Of Poker for short, has set up this tournament with every intention of granting one million dollars to the winner of the 2010 World Series Of Poker TOC; being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in stunning Las Vegas, Nevada, during the 41st Annual World Series Of Poker.

At a press conference, HIE Vice President Ty Stewart expressed his delight of their ability to make a revamped poker game that could include millions of fans around the world. Only 27 participants will play in the freeroll poker invitational, and seven of them will be dropped after the public votes on their favorite. Voting opened March 15, 2010 and continues until June 15, 2010 precisely at midnight. To qualify, each player must be a WSOP bracelet-holder. Any living bracelet-holder is eligible, and currently there are 521 players with eligibility. With three positions already guaranteed because previous WSOP TOC winners receive automatic entry, the reigning WSOP champ for both America and Europe get seats at the table, as well. That means that this year Mike Sexton, Barry Shulman, Joe Cada, Mike Matusow, and Annie Duke make up five out of the 27 players for the event.

TOC visitor Annie Duke feels that it is an honor to be part of tournaments, just like the TOC. She has been cited happily telling that winning the TOC was one moment in her poker career that she will never forget. She is just one of a few participants that are ecstatic about World Series Of Pokers involvement in hosting this event. Following the count of the votes and the announcement of the 20 participants that will move on, play will begin on June 27, 2010 at the Rio. Once it comes down to the final nine, they will be back on July 4, 2010 to try and claim their part of $1,000,000 and the 2010 World Series Of Poker Tournament of Champions Champion title.
