Miami Tops Tampa Bay In NFL Preseason Florida Battle
No comments · Posted by Ross Everett in Recreation & Sports
Success in the NFL mandates that even when teams aren’t playing their best they need to find a way to win. The Miami Dolphins found a way to win ugly in their NFL preseason battle of Florida on Thursday night. After spotting the Bucs a 6-0 lead, Miami used a late first half field goal and scored the only touchdown of the second half to comeback for the 10-6 win.
A starting QB battle in Tampa was the biggest storyline of the game and veteran Byron Leftwich appears to have gained the edge over Luke McCown. Bucs coach Raheem Morris has indicated that hell be making a decision soon, though he refused to show his cards in postgame media comments:
“Obviously you want somebody to jump up and take it. We’ll find out when we go back, look at the tape and evaluate this thing.”
McCown had a rough night, with two sacks and no points scored. He gained 38 yards on 5 for 11 passing and after the game gave a verbose no comment on his status as starter:
“It’s not for me to say. … My part in it is preparing every day, being the best I can be and getting better from my mistakes. As long as I feel like I’m doing that, then I’m OK.”
Leftwich, meanwhile, was 9 of 17 for 100 yards and came up big on several third down completions. He had very little to say about the ‘QB controversy’ and instead focused on his performance:
“Hopefully, I’m the guy. I felt good. I missed a few, but I hit a few also. Luckily for me on the ones I missed, I made plays on the following play to get those first downs.”
Bucs running back Cadillac Williams returned to action after major knee surgery seven months ago. Hes been limited in the last three seasons due to injuries, but looked solid in picking up 54 yards on eight carries. Afterwards, he said the knee problems are not an issue:
“The knee is not an issue to me. … I feel great. I’m just loving what I do.”
Dolphins QB Chad Pennington said that its hard to take much away from a strange game like this one:
“It was a very odd game for us, as far as the rain delay, a lot of stoppages of play and things like that We were able to come out get a score before halftime and get a score after the half. We’ll build on that. We’ll be critical of ourselves and make sure we don’t let a win overshadow what we need to do to get better.”
The Dolphins will conclude their NFL preseason play next Thursday against the Saints at New Orleans. Tampa Bay will host Houston next Friday in their final preseason contest. Miami will get the NFL regular season underway against the Atlanta Falcons at The Georgia Dome on Sunday, September 13. Tampa Bay will welcome the Dallas Cowboys to The Cigar City on the same day to kick off their 2009 campaign.

UFC 94 Flashback: GSP Destroys BJ Penn
No comments · Posted by Ross Everett in Recreation & Sports
Reigning lightweight champ BJ Penn entered his main event battle against welterweight kingpin Georges St. Pierre looking to become the first man in UFC history to simultaneously hold titles in two weight classes. GSP never gave him the chance to make history, as he stopped Penn after four increasingly dominant rounds to retain his belt with a TKO victory and make a compelling case for being the pound for pound best fighter in mixed martial arts.
Both fighters had considerable fan support, with vocal, flag waving delegations from the Hawaiian Islands and Canada in evidence. During ring introductions, both men received enthusiastic cheers tempered with a few boos. After the opening horn sounded, however, the Penn backers had little to cheer about while the champions supports broke out in G-S-P chants on several occasions. The first round was fairly evenly contested, with St. Pierre trying to get a first hand feel for Penns often unorthodox”but highly successful”takedown defense. GSP made several takedown attempts, but had them repeatedly stuffed by Penns incredible balance and flexibility.
Boxing guru Freddy Roach recently praised Penn as the best technical puncher in MMA, but he had no opportunity to bring this weapon to bear as he had trouble finding the range from the outset. GSP mixed up his look perfectly, either staying just outside Penns range using his 6 reach advantage effectively or more often smothering his opponent on takedown attempts. St. Pierre was unable to complete any takedowns during the first round, but easily dictated the pace and style of the bout.
GSP began to assert his dominance in round two”with Penn starting to fatigue he was no longer able to fend off St. Pierres single leg takedown attempts by balancing on one leg. GSP got a takedown early in the frame and began to mount a ground and pound assault while moving around in Penns legendary guard almost at will moving from half guard to side control with frightening ease. At this point, it was apparent that GSPs superior strength and insane physical conditioning were going to figure prominently in the outcome of the fight.
The eventual outcome was foretold between rounds two and three, as the obviously exhausted Penn required a pep talk from his entourage that his fatigue was all in his head. Across the cage, GSP calmly sipped water looking for all the world that he could go 12 rounds.
Round three was similar to the previous one, with GSP taking his opponent to the mat with a decreasing level of resistance and mauling him with punches and elbows once he got there. His complete control over the BJJ black belt Penn was incredible, but hardly surprising given the way that GSP dominated four time NCAA All American wrestler Josh Koscheck on the ground during their matchup. That may be the most exceptional thing about Georges St. Pierre”his willingness to attack his opponents strengths and success at doing so.
The fourth round was a wall to wall rout for the Canadian welterweight champion, who started by effectively trading strikes with Penn before taking him down once again and resuming his highly successful ground based attack. At this point with GSP moving around at ease and Penn mounting little resistance it was apparent that the challenger was physically spent. St. Pierre almost ended the fight on the ground, as referee Herb Dean repeatedly reminding Penn that he needs to fight back. Penn survived the round on instinct alone, moving around just enough to keep the referee from stopping the proceedings. After the horn sounded to end the fourth round, however, it was evident that Penn had nothing physically or emotionally left. As he leaned headfirst against the cage in exhaustion, an impromptu conference amongst his handlers on whether or not to continue became moot when the fight was stopped by Dean on advice from the ringside physician. There was no argument whatsoever from Penn or his entourage.
Displaying his characteristic class, GSP delayed his celebration until he had crossed the cage and kneeled by his vanquished foe to honor his competitive spirit. After a quick celebration among GSP and his team, he faced his next challenger in the person of Thiago Alves. While clearly brought into the cage to start the fight promotion early, Alves appeared somewhat in awe as he congratulated the welterweight champion on his victory.
In the co-feature attraction, Lyoto Machida kept his undefeated professional MMA record intact with a first round TKO victory over Thiago Silva. Silva had no answer for Machidas well rounded skills and unorthodox Shotokan karate based style. Machida may be the best in the world at fighting while backing up, and Silva found his aggressive style working against him. Machida took his opponent down and knocked his opponent down twice”all counters as Silva was coming forward and Machida backing away. As the first round entered its final seconds, it appeared that Silva started to ease up in anticipation of the horn. Machida used this opportunity for another takedown, and then nailed his surprised opponent with a powerful punch that ended the fight.

Best Souces Of Hot Canadian MLM Leads
No comments · Posted by Noah Matthews in Internet Business
The MLM industry is big business in Canada. Currently there are 1.3 million Canadians in the direct sales field. The smart MLM business owner is,therefore, going to take advantage of this fertile ground and mine it for those valuable MLM leads.
Acquiring MLM leads from Canada is not much different when recruiting from other countries. After all, the playing field for MLM is done through the internet, a medium where geographical barriers are almost of no consequence.
To help you out, I’m going to share with you three essential ways on how to generate Canadian MLM Leads.
1. Video marketing plays an essential part in marketing. YouTube, I’m sure, can attest to that.
So have your camera ready, and cook up a story that should tell viewers what you have in mind in regards to the MLM opportunity you’re offering. Take note that most of your viewers are already interested about what you have to say.
Clicking is a voluntary activity that connotes interest, so the rest you can do is become engaging enough to warrant their undivided attention once the video starts playing. Make sure that you address the needs and wants of the prospects and then support them by giving useful information that will make them perk up their ears.
Tease them with just enough compelling information so that they’ll want to find out more. The point of video marketing is to lead them on to the next step – which is paying a visit to your website and having them fill up a form that will capture their email address and contact information. And once they’ve opted in, you have a prospect to whom you can further market your MLM program.
2. Blogging/Article Marketing
An excellent way to pull in those Canadian MLM leads, and one that I enjoy, is to create a blog. A blog is very easy to set up these days, not to mention that you can create one for free. Free blogging services available online today include Blogger.com and Blogspot.com. It’s still better to purchase your own domain in order for your blog to look more professional. Domain names are pretty cheap these days, costing as low as $7 to $10 a year.
You want to do more than just pitch your program in your posts; you need to include valuable content geared toward your Canadian prospects, such as what’s happening in the MLM industry in Canada and in your particular niche. You also want to demonstrate to your prospects that you know what you’re doing and will be there to help them succeed. It’s important to post simple and persuasive content on a daily basis in order to attract the attention of those valuable Canadian MLM leads.
3. Issue A Press Release
A press release is a declaration to the industry that you’re officially in business. You’ll make a better impression if you not only describe the products and services you offer, but clearly state how they will help your prospects solve a problem or gain something desired. Express your willingness to help and show that you’re a capable leader (subtly, mind you), and it’s only a matter of time before people start flocking around you.
These three tips are foolproof ways to acquire MLM leads in Canada. Once you have the momentum and you remain vigilant, it will only be a matter of time before you achieve financial freedom.

Simple web designs give a lot of gains not just to the clients and users but also to designers as well. In this article we will give a rundown of the benefits and advantages of simplified web designs and how you can attain them.
1. Navigation.
Simple websites only includes important information. This makes navigation relatively easy. The key here is to be consistent. You need to put navigation elements in the same place on each page whenever possible. There must be a one main navigation menu. As much as possible do not use drop downs for navigation.
2. Simple web pages loads faster.
When you are designing, make it a rule that you make your file as small as possible. This is of course because of the fact that smaller files loads faster. With simple designs, you will likely be using simple style sheets and less number of HTTP requests.
3. Easy to scan website pages.
When visitors come across a certain website, scanning is the first thing that they do. They scan through the pages and look for something that they need, and when they don’t find anything they will immediately hit back and move on. Thus as a designer, it is a must that you know how to create layouts that clearly presents what your site is all about. As a general rule, present your contents keeping in mind that visitors will scan it in “F” or “E” pattern.
4. Simple code is easier to debug.
When building your site, make sure that you simplify your code right from the very start. Simple codes are easier to debug, thus saving time for the designer.
5. Do not put unnecessary decorative elements.
Though it is still a case to case basis, make sure that you do not put decorative elements that do not serve any purpose. Though your field is designing, the cliche “simple is beautiful” still applies to websites.
